Why is it that we continue to tolerate other countries such as Vietnam and Thailand to fish in our water? Do you know what the old people talks about most when they get together and talk about their younger years? Fishing use to be so easy and plentiful. YOu can use a small bamboo stick, a hook and a line and baiting it with a small live frog and you can expect to see a fish in the morning.

When it rains, oh how fun it use to be! Fishes use to crawl/swim up the streets. It almost looks like the water itself is alive. You can take a bucket and scoop up some water and sometime you would get a fish in the process. I used to tell my friends about our country and how it use to be. They are all in awe in our natural wonders. But that was from memories from the olden days.

Now a day, fish are now more expensive than beef. The continuation of trolling of these HUGE nets by the Vietnamese (and the Thai, too) have to stop. If the government wishes to reverse Cambodia reputation as a "nation of beggars", they have to address this issue. Our water, our trees, and our Ankor ruins are the most resources.

The marketability of Cambodia will increase dramatically if our natural resources are maintain at the optimal level. The Americans and the Europeans would travel thousands of kilometers to just go fishing. Fishing is a very popular sport. Thousands of small businesses that cater to this sport would flourish. Stores that sell baits and fishing tackles would provides jobs and continues to attract tourists that need to break away from their busy lives and want to spend time with their families in nature.

Cambodia best chance of reverse our fortunes depends heavily on our abilities to reverse back to our olden days. To those who read this post, please continues to bring this issue up for discussion. Fishes is a dwindling resource that is at a breaking point. This is absolutely the most vital source of protein for the Cambodian people.

The water, the lands, the trees, and now the oil wells that have been known since the 1970's will be dug.

$50/per month to support families...absolutely appalling! How the heck do you expect the visitors and the tourists to respect the people when their monthly salary is less than a night stay at a decent hotel room?
