The bad:
1. My first day there, they close down the French's newspaper for reporting what they suppose to..illegal logging.
2. Feel like communism: Found out why it take them so long to prosecute the Khmer Rouge. Most of the leaders in reign now have some link to the Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge.
3. The feeling is starting to polarized: CPP will win again in '08 but SRP will lose big. Forgive me but I do not like the royal family.
4. The distance between the poors and the rich is getting bigger.
The Good:
1. the people, the land, the rivers, the foods...I love my country.
2. It was good to see PM Hun Sen went on the TV and talked about preserving and revitalizing the fish habitats. Can we expect a new policy to preserve our forest....please?!
....more to come |

I wish they stopped the union of Lao, Vietnam and Cambodia. We share nothing in history. Ok, so we got some history with the Laotians but beside that we got more histories with the Thai than any of those countries. Yes, the bottom line and the underlying and true intention is that Lao is completely under the Vietnamese rule. Incorporating Cambodia with such thing as "tourism guide" is just a way of saying that it is coming.
I had the chance to visit the Lao border, the Lao soldiers are moving into the designated "Zero zone"....what is it, 25 Km of land all along the border?
Do you realize that in Thailand the Vietnamese refugees cannot stay in one place for more than 2 years? An amazing policy that seems to work well. |

My prediction is:
In 2008, there will be some strange and drastic policies that will favor our neighbors to the North and to the East.
It is unfortunate, because I think that PM Hun Sen can become one of the greatest leader in our history. I hope he can ally Cambodia with nations that does not want permanent acquisition of our land and natural resources.
I am just one (but with many friends and families) but if I can just see the stoppage of land grabbing, the deforestation, and the shrinkage of Cambodia from all side...CORRUPTION, I would join the CPP! Stop them, Mr. PM, and take your place as one of the greatest in our history. |

So many of our families have perished during the Khmer Rouge's regime. We should not just forget about the past. Too many have died senselessly. Samdech Sihanouk is revered by the Cambodian people, he is our King after all and to this, shouldnt he at least owe us some explanation?
In his name, Khmer Rouge killed 100's of thousands of Cambodians in the first two days after the invasion...all because they said that these defeated soldiers was to meet with Samdech Sihanouk. Their bodies can be seen piled up all over the rice fields.
2.5 millions have died, lands and islands all around our country are lost but you managed to preserved your family. Bravo! |

One seemingly insignificant story being mentioned amid the turmoils and the political jargoning in Cambodia, Thailand is thinking and pursuing a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT. Ladies and Gentlemen, if you dont feel this is a statement toward the whole region stability, you better strap on your seat belts....it going to be a wild ride. If the Thais are able to produce nuclear capability, they are staring straight into the eyes of the Chinese. We all know how much the Thais love the Cambodians/Khmers. They have been wanting our lands since God know when, especially since Samdech have been smooshing with the Chinese and the Vietnamese....since the 1940's perhaps?
The Cambodian reigning leaders better make a sound and neutral decision now. In ten years, this country will make a transformation that you and I will not be able to recognize. It is plain and simple, this is a race that both sides, Communism and Democracy, are racing to acquire our lands. Communism have been draining and sucking the life out off Cambodia since 1975. Nothing in Cambodia is belonging to the Cambodian government anymore...even Ankor Wat. Where are all the money goes? |
